I have a weakness for milkshakes. Sometimes I’ll just crave them. Chocolate, strawberry, Cookies ‘n Cream- omg, Pumpkin Pie.
So I gobble these things up and not too long after get an insane stomachache. What I did for the longest time was blame the places I got them from, because what can’t you blame on fast food, while all the time suspecting that I might be lactose intolerant. Finally, having run out of excuses and hating the pain that accompanied my beloved snacks, I buckled down and started reading about lactose intolerance. The symptoms matched up perfectly, though thankfully I seem to have a very mild form of it, and now I’m having to rethink my diet.
Milkshakes! Cheese! Yogurt! Cereal! And now, after some research, apparently a lot of other food as well! And medicine! Lactose is in everything!
I’ve chosen to ignore it. Because that’s what adults do, right?
